How are leave days calculated in Zambia?

The Employment Code Act 2019 gives at least 2 days of paid leave for every month of continuous service: 24 days a year. Leave pay is full pay × leave days ÷ 26 (Fifth Schedule).

Do I get paid for leave I didn't take?

Yes. Leave you were not allowed to take is paid at the end of the year, and any leave built up when a contract ends must be paid with your final pay (section 36).

Why divide by 26?

The Fifth Schedule to the Employment Code sets the formula: full pay × days ÷ 26, treating a month as 26 working days.

Is leave pay taxed?
