About TapTip Tools

TapTip Tools is a free set of money calculators for Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Malawi, South Africa and Botswana. It is run by TAPTIP INVESTMENT LTD, a Zambian company and the team behind TapTip, digital tipping paid to mobile money.

We are independent

TapTip Tools is not linked to, approved or endorsed by the Zambia Revenue Authority, the Bank of Zambia, the Energy Regulation Board, ZESCO, NAPSA, NHIMA, the Zambia Statistics Agency, RTSA, the Government of the Republic of Zambia, or any authority in the other countries we cover. We use their names only to say where a figure comes from, and we never use their logos.

How the figures are checked

• Figures such as exchange rates, treasury bill yields, inflation and fuel prices are read from the publisher's own website automatically, between every three hours and once a day depending on how often each one changes.
• Every new figure is checked against a sensible range. A large or unusual change waits for a person to compare it with the official page before it is used.
• Where a second source publishes the same figure (for example a bank's exchange rate), the two are compared, and a figure is held back if they disagree.
• Rules that change rarely, such as tax bands, are typed in by our team from the official document and re-checked when the publisher's page changes.
• Every result names its sources and dates, and shows when the figures were last checked.
