Questions people ask

What is the HELSB interest rate?

10% a year, charged on the outstanding balance and amortised into equal monthly instalments over up to 120 months (HELSB).

When do I start repaying?

Within one year of finishing your studies, or earlier if the Board recalls the loan. You can pay before then to reduce the balance.

Can I pay more than the instalment?

Yes. Extra payments go straight to the balance and attract no interest, so the loan ends sooner or the instalment comes down. You can also settle it all at once and pay only that month's interest.

How do I pay?

Through payroll deductions by your employer, or directly into HELSB's Revolving Fund account at Zanaco. HELSB's repayment page has the account details.
